Apollonia

Choose Apollonia if you want evening energy, restaurants, shops, and a central launch point for daily drives to Platis Gialos, Vathi, Faros, or Kastro. Artemis’ office is here, so pickup and questions are easy.

Kamares

Choose Kamares if you love beach-first mornings and the shortest walk after the ferry. You will still want wheels for midday beach hops inland or along the south coast.

With a rental, both work

Ask Artemis for Apollonia pickup by default, or Kamares on request when your boat arrives late. Browse where to stay and request dates once your hotel is set.

Drive times with a rental

From Apollonia to Platis Gialos is roughly fifteen minutes; to Vathi twenty-five. Kamares adds ten minutes to south-coast beaches but puts you closer to north-coast walks. Neither base requires long commutes, Sifnos is compact once you have wheels from Artemis.

Evening returns matter: Apollonia diners walk home after wine; Kamares guests drive uphill roads at night, take it slow on first evening if you collected the car same day as the ferry.

Who fits which base

Apollonia suits: couples and groups who want nightlife, shopping, and walking to dinner; travellers who prefer collecting keys at the Artemis office without a port detour.

Kamares suits: families with tired kids post-ferry, swimmers who want beach-first mornings, and late arrivals who requested Kamares pickup on request.

Artemonas and other villages
