How to get to Sifnos

The simple route (most travellers)

1. Fly to Athens (ATH)
2. Transfer to Piraeus port (metro, bus, taxi, or private transfer, allow buffer for luggage and traffic)
3. Ferry Piraeus → Sifnos (Kamares)
4. Drive or transfer up to Apollonia (about 5–6 km inland) and collect Artemis keys, or request Kamares car pickup

Ferry duration & vessel types

• High-speed / faster services: often roughly 2.5–3.5 hours
• Conventional ferries: often closer to 4–5 hours, sometimes with vehicle decks useful if you bring a car from the mainland (most holidaymakers rent on-island instead)

Schedules swing hard between winter and August. Always confirm the return sailing before you lock non-refundable hotels.

Piraeus practicalities

• Know your gate / quay early, Piraeus is large.
• Build 90+ minutes between an international landing and a tight high-speed departure if you still need to cross the city.
• Summer weekends: ports and ferries crowd, travel light onto the boat if you will rent on Sifnos anyway.

Arriving into Kamares

Kamares is both port and beach village. ATMs, cafés, and taxis may be available when boats land, but in peak weeks pre-arranged pickup is calmer. Artemis can meet car clients at Kamares on request; scooters are collected in Apollonia.

Ferries also link Sifnos with other Cyclades (examples by season: Serifos, Paros, Milos, Syros and more). If Sifnos is one stop in a multi-island trip:

1. Lock the ferry chain first
